Our 54-bed secure Memory Care / Special Needs unit provides a multi-level, unique approach to help improve the quality of life for residents with memory impairments — such as Alzheimer’s and other dementias — as well as those with complex medical conditions and behavioral health needs that require a higher level of structure and supervision.

At Waco Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, we aim to provide an environment where individuals can live safely, securely, and comfortably. Our staff members receive specialized training to work with this population, and they understand the complexities of the disease, its progression over time, and the needs that arise — including the medical and behavioral complexities that come with it. This unit offers a better staff-to-resident ratio than a traditional setting, so residents receive more consistent, individualized attention throughout the day.

We provide security and medical services as well as access to a wide range of activities to encourage social and cognitive stimulation. These activities are essential for mental health, particularly as one ages. It makes dementia more manageable, encourages independence, and reduces feelings of isolation. Our unit has its own dedicated activity director, whose sole focus is designing engaging recreation programs tailored to the needs, abilities, and interests of our residents — stimulating memory, promoting joy, and enhancing daily living.
