Special Care Unit

At Waco Healthcare, we provide top-level care to individuals living with dementia and other memory-related conditions. Our facility is staffed by skilled and compassionate caregivers who are dedicated to helping those with this complex disorder. Dementia is a complex, progressive brain disorder that affects multiple cognitive functions, including memory, thinking, language, judgment and behavior. It can occur as a result of physical changes to the brain such as from a stroke or Alzheimer’s or it may be caused by environmental factors like head trauma.

Caring for those with dementia can be challenging, but at Waco Healthcare we offer a wide range of amenities and services to enhance the quality of life for those suffering from this condition. We are able to provide caregivers and family members with support and understanding throughout their loved one’s time at our facility. We offer a secure unit to ensure those with dementia are given the care and support they need to go about their day-to-day routine safely.

The main goal of a secure dementia unit is to provide an environment where individuals can live in safety, security, and comfort. Our staff members are specially trained in working with people suffering from dementia. They understand the complexities of the disease, its progression over time, and the needs that arise as it progresses.

We don’t just provide security and medical services but also provide access to a wide range of activities to encourage social and cognitive stimulation. This is essential for mental health in particular as one ages. This doesn’t just make dementia itself more manageable, but also encourages independence and reduces feelings of isolation.

At Waco Healthcare, we offer an all-encompassing solution for those struggling with dementia and memory-related disorders. Our goal is to provide the care and support they need to live peacefully with trained professionals who best understand how to meet their needs.

Our Mission
Our trained and tenured staff is here to serve the many differing needs of our residents, promoting creative thinking and learning, with patience, kindness and, above all, compassion. The later years of life can bring many joys and many challenges.
